Acceleration due to gravity
Acceleration due to Gravity Consider a body of mass m and radius r on the surface of the Earth Let the mass of the earth is M and radius R.
The gravitational force on the object due to Earth is given by,
The force exerted by object on the surface of the earth due to its weight is given by,
From eq (1) and (2)
This expression can be used to calculate the value of g on the surface of the Earth.
