From the figure above, the magnetic dipole moment m is along the axis. Let point P be any point at which magnetic field is to be determined. Thus the magnetic dipole moment is resolved into two component i.e axial and equatorial.

Thus magnetic field at point P due to axial component is,

The resultant magnetic field is given by vector sum of  both component 
Equation no (3) gives the magnitude of the magnetic field at point P
