Pressure due to a liquid column

Pressure due to a liquid column

Introduction : when an object is placed inside a container containing liquid, the object experience pressure. As we go deeper inside a liquid this pressure goes on increasing. Let us study the mathematical calculation related to the pressure due to liquid column.

Fig A. Pressure due to liquid Column

Consider a container filled with water of density 'ρ'. Let an imaginary  cylinder having  cross section area 'A' and height 'h' s placed in it .The liquid column exerts force equal to it's weight on the bottom surface and in reaction the bottom surface exerts an upward force. Let 'P' be the pressure at bottom of imaginary cylinder , then the mathematical value of pressure at this point is given by,
Equation (A) gives the value of pressure at bottom of the cylinder
