Lenses

 Lenses

Introduction: In the case of refraction from a plane surface, it is found that an image of the object is seen at a different location. Let us focus on images formed due to spherical surfaces. In order to study the formation of an image due to a spherical surface, we use an optical instrument like lenses. This lens is transparent materialsmediums made up of different materials (glass/fiber/splint glass/ crow glass).

Lens: It is a transparent material made up of the intersection of two spheres of radius R1and R2.

The most commonly used lens is

1) Convex lens: A lens that is thicker in the middle and narrow towards the periphery is called a convex lens.

2) Concave lens: A lens that is narrow in the middle and thicker towards the periphery is called a concave mirror.
